Hamilton to Assume Responsibility from Retiring President Tim Hunter
[Erie, PA - November 1, 2024] ELLWOOD today announced an upcoming change in leadership at McInnes Rolled Rings (MRR) with the promotion of Colby Hamilton to President effective January 1, 2025. Hamilton will succeed outgoing President Tim Hunter, who earlier this year announced his year-end retirement.
Hamilton joined MRR in 2022 and serves as Vice President of Operations. His promotion to President follows a career with ELLWOOD that spans 22 years with previous experience at ELLWOOD Quality Steels in New Castle, Pa, and ELLWOOD National Forge in Irvine, Pa.
Hunter is a founder of MRR and has led the business since its inception in 2003. He continued in the leadership position following MRR's acquisition by ELLWOOD in 2019. Tim has been a transformative leader creating a world class associate stakeholder culture at MRR that continues to this day. MRR produces seamless carbon, alloy, and stainless-steel rolled rings in Erie, Pa, and sets the industry standard for productivity, cost control, and speed.
"Colby shares Tim's commitment to the McInnes team and culture, and we know he is the right person at the right time for this role," says Ben Huffman, ELLWOOD President and CEO. "We are excited for Colby to take this next step in his career. We are proud of his hard work and the growth he has demonstrated throughout 22 years with ELLWOOD." Huffman explains that Hunter will continue to serve on the MRR Board of Directors. "We want to thank Tim for his leadership of the McInnes team and we wish him the best in retirement. Tim and Colby will continue to work together closely moving forward to ensure the bright future of McInnes."
Prior to joining McInnes, Hamilton served as Vice President of Operations for ELLWOOD National Forge beginning in 2018. His many successes at the division included strengthening the robust culture of teamwork and safety, developing strategic capital project plans, and improving process flows on key product lines.
Hamilton's managerial experience began in 2012 when he was named Shipping Manager at ELLWOOD Quality Steels and later promoted to Manager of Shipping and Finishing. During his time overseeing the department he was given the added responsibility of managing the operation of the newly formed steel stocking warehouse facility and future finishing operations of the then-newly established remelt facility in New Castle.
Hamilton began his career with ELLWOOD in 2002 as a Systems Analyst with ELLWOOD Quality Steels. He is a graduate of Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering. Hamilton and his wife Casey have three children. The Hamilton family has strong connections to ELLWOOD; Dan Hamilton, Colby's father, retired in 2020 after more than 30 years at ELLWOOD City Forge, including 14 years as President. Hamilton's stepson, Cody, is a member of the ELLWOOD Quality Steels maintenance team.
