Nighttime Closures for Paving for the I-80/Gilman Street Interchange Project Final Paving Resumes the Week of December 2, 2024

Alameda/Berkeley - Caltrans will conduct nighttime closures for paving work at the I-80/Gilman Interchange Project to install the final layer of asphalt. Due to unfavorable weather, paving work was suspended. The work is scheduled to take place this week of December 2, 2024.

The following closures are planned:

  • Closure Dates: Monday night, December 2, to Thursday morning, December 5, 2024
  • Closure Times: Nightly from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM

During this time, the Eastbound and Westbound Gilman Street on and off rampsand portions of Gilman Street off the I-80 Interchange will be closed to traffic to allow for a safe and efficient paving operation. Detours will be set in place. All work is weather dependent.

This work is the final phase of paving for the Gilman Interchange Project, aiming to improve safety and traffic flow in the area. Caltrans appreciates the public's patience and cooperation as we work to complete this essential infrastructure upgrade.

Closed Segments

Gilman Street: Between 4th Street to West Frontage Road, in both directions.
2nd Street: Between Page Street and Camelia Street, in both directions.
Eastbound I-80 Onramp and Offramp at Gilman Street exit
Westbound I-80 Onramp and Offramp at Gilman Street exit.

Detour to Tom Bates Regional Sports Complex "Gilman: Field":

Exit on I-80 University Ave exit and use W Frontage Rd to access the Tom Bates Regional Sports Complex.

Please follow all detour signs.
