Texan Volleyball opens 2024 campaign on the road with scrimmage against Big 12 opponent, Texas Tech

Tarleton State Volleyball will head west to take on the Red Raiders of Texas Tech.

Matchup Notes
• Tonight's matchup will mark the third all time meeting between the Red Raiders and the Texans.
• The Red Raiders are 2-0 against Tarleton State. In the inaugural meeting between the two programs on March 11, 2021, Texas Tech secured their first win over the Purple and White with a four-set battle that ended in favor of the visitors. In the second and most recent meeting, the Red Raiders hosted the Texans for the first time, claiming a second win over Tarleton State with a sweep.
• The Texans are coming into the 2024 season after closing out the 2023 season with their most wins in a single season since becoming a Division l program. After making their first appearance in the WAC Tournament, the Purple and White ended their season with an overall record of 16-15. Tarleton State ended a historical season with a loss to UTRGV in the WAC Tournament after a hard fought five-set match.
• Texas Tech is coming into the matchup after closing out the 2023 season with an overall record of 11-19. The most recent match for the Red Raiders ended in a 3-0 loss to the eventual National Champion, the Texas Longhorns.

• The head coach for the Texans, , is entering her 20th season as the leading lady for Tarleton State Volleyball. The Texan coaching staff consists of assistant, (5th season), assistant, Damien Hardy (1st season), and graduate assistant and former player, (1st season).
• Texas Tech head coach Tony Graystone is entering his ninth season as a Red Raider with a 116-120 record to show for his time in Lubbock. Assistant coaches Alisa Blair, Emily Hill, Tatum Rohme and Director of Operations, Mikayla Ell join the Red Raiders for their second season with the program.
• The Red Raiders will appear in four tournaments prior to conference play, including the Red Raider Classic. Texas Tech will also take on the Vaqueros, previous WAC members, in the UTRGV Tournament.

In the 2024 season, Tarleton State Volleyball will welcome eight newcomers to the court.
comes to Tarleton State from Blinn College. The outside hitter from Anthony, New Mexico spent the past two seasons with the Bucaneers.
joins the Purple and White after one season at Louisiana Tech. The sophomore, outside hitter/right side is a Tomball, Texas, native.
is a sophomore from Syracuse, Utah. The outside hitter joins the Texans after one season with Central Wyoming College.
Sophomore, , comes to Tarleton State from Iowa Western College. Ansquer is a setter from Qumiper, France.
Stephanie Sarmezan is a sophomore, middle blocker from Sainte Anne, Quebec, Canada. Sarmezan joins us after one season with Iowa Western Community College.
is a freshman from Brenham, Texas. The Brenham HIgh School graduate is a defensive specialist and libero.
Madeline O'Goman comes to Tarleton State from New Braunfels, Texas. She is entering her freshman season as a middle blocker and outside hitter.
Freshman, , is a Newcastle High School graduate. The Newcastle, Texas, native, is a middle blocker and right side.
is a freshman outside hitter from Deer Park, Texas. She comes to us from Deer Park High School.
Halcomb's Final Run
has officially made her return to Tarleton State Volleyball to fulfill her final season of eligibility of indoor volleyball. In the previous season, Halcomb took a break from her time on the hardwood and hit the sand courts for the inaugural season of beach volleyball at Tarleton State. The graduate student had returned to the Wisdom Gym for one final run with Coach Schindler and the ladies of Tarleton State Volleyball.
Here Comes Hardy
In the 2024 season, the Texans welcome the newest staff member, Damien Hardy to the Tarleton State Volleyball family. Hardy joins Texan Nation from Menlo College where we was an assistant coach from 2019-2024. The Pearl City, Hawaii, native, has also coached at Notre de Namur and Hardy is a graduate from the class of 1991 at the University of Hawaii where he was a member of the men's volleyball program.
Conference Tourney Time
In the 2023 season, the Texans earned their first ever appearance in the WAC Tournament. In the first round of tournament play, the Texans fell short in a nail biting five-set battle against UTRGV. The 2024 season will see the Purple and White eligible for post season play as Tarleton State has completed the reclassification period. The Texans can compete in the playoffs and now have the opportunity to fight for national championship titles.
Road to Four Hundred
Tarleton head coach begins the 2024 campaign with an impressive 373-228 record. With a total of 29 matches, one scrimmage and a chance at another run in the WAC Tournament, the 400 win mark is nearing for Coach Schindler in her 20th season at the helm of Tarleton State Volleyball. Schindler is the winningest coach is program history and adding a 400th win to her resume is on the horizon.
