The U.S. Department of State announced today that musician and guitarist Grace Bowers continued her public service as a U.S. Global Music Ambassador during a recent visit to Tokyo, Japan, by engaging audiences to highlight the inaugural U.S.-Japan Tourism Year, a collaborative initiative aimed at strengthening bilateral ties, boosting economic partnerships, and enhancing cultural exchange between the two nations.

In addition to performing three sold-out shows at the Blue Note Jazz Club in Tokyo, Bowers also collaborated with U.S. Embassy partners to promote American music and cultural exchange. As a U.S. Global Music Ambassador, Bowers uses her platform to engage youth through her music, which blends traditional rock, soul, and funk with modern influences.

U.S. Global Music Ambassadors are the centerpiece of the State Department-YouTube Global Music Partnership, which was announced by Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken and Global Head of Music at Google and YouTube Lyor Cohen earlier this year. Spanning genres of music and generations of people, U.S. Global Music Ambassadors build on the legacy of the iconic U.S. Jazz Ambassadors of the 1950s and 1960s and use their music to bring people together and promote peace worldwide on behalf of the American people.
