Pallone Secures $1.1 million to Enhance Public Safety in Carteret

Washington, DC - Congressman Frank Pallone (NJ-06) has secured $1.1 million in Community Project Funding to significantly enhance Carteret's public safety infrastructure. The new federal funding will provide local police with closed-circuit television (CCTV) system upgrades, mobile data laptops for patrol cars, and the installation of emergency 911 call boxes to improve public safety and emergency response coordination.

The proposed enhancements also include upgraded community cameras, emergency call boxes, mobile data laptops for patrol cars, and pole-mounted license plate readers. These technologies are designed to improve situational awareness, expedite emergency responses, and enhance the overall security measures implemented by Carteret's police and fire departments.

"With Carteret's proximity to the New Jersey Turnpike, industrial facilities, and vital coastal port infrastructure, these upgrades are not just beneficial but essential," Pallone stated. "The strategic placement of emergency call boxes, and advanced technology will significantly improve the capabilities of our local law enforcement agencies. By putting money into these upgrades, town officials can deliver faster responses and better teamwork during emergencies, all to keep our community safer and more secure."

"Congressman Pallone's efforts to include funding for our COPS Technology Program in the amount of $1.135 million will go a long way to strengthen our community policing programs and emergency response. With these funds we can make a pivotal investment in technology to better empower our law local police department with enhanced surveillance, advanced license plate readers and the integration of drones. This investment not only strengthens our capacity to maintain public safety but also promotes a safer, more secure community," said Mayor Reiman.

The funding for this project was requested by Pallone in the Fiscal Year 2025 annual spending bill. Each year, members of the U.S. House may request community funding projects in their district to direct federal resources toward the biggest needs in their communities.
