ASTRONAUTICS AEROSYNC MAX SELECTED AS LINE-FIT CONNECTIVITY SOLUTION FOR NEW AIRBUS H160M HELICOPTER

Creating a cyber-secure and connected military ecosystem that collects, stores, and exports data while integrating with next-generation cockpit avionics suite

FARNBOROUGH, ENGLAND - July 19, 2024 - Astronautics Corporation of America's AeroSync Max wireless airborne communication system (wACS) has been selected as the line-fit connectivity solution for Airbus' new H160M helicopter; a multi-role, military rotorcraft derived from Airbus' commercial H160. In December 2021, the French Armament General Directorate signed a contract with Airbus for the development and procurement of the H160M as part of its Light Joint Helicopter program.

Astronautics' AeroSync Max is also the line-fit, Federal Aviation Administration and European Union Aviation Safety Agency-certified connectivity solution on Airbus' H160 platform.

The AeroSync Max is a hardware-partitioned and domain-segregated connectivity system, or avionics domain gateway, designed to provide the ultimate security between the helicopter's avionics and the open world. Under this award, Astronautics is providing Airbus 140 shipsets, along with its cybersecurity services to conduct ongoing security vulnerability assessments.

Each AeroSync Max shipset consists of Astronautics' AFS6400 airborne communication server, AFS6460 connectivity module, and AFS6480 remote media device. Together, the system provides a secure and integrated wireless data transmission system that enables transfer of maintenance data via Wi-Fi with data storage to create a connected ecosystem throughout all phases of flight.

AeroSync Max:

  • Facilitates easy upload of the field loadable software through ARINC 615A data loader function for maintenance of all equipment connected on Ethernet network.
  • Facilitates easy upload of navigation databases into the avionic equipment.
  • Facilitates instant availability of airworthiness data at landing to improve scheduled and unscheduled maintenance with automatic and secure data transfer to the maintenance information system.
  • Interfaces with H160M next-generation cockpit avionics suite.

"Astronautics is honored to grow its relationship with Airbus by supporting their innovative H160M platform with a proven product adapted to fit the rigorous security and mission demands of this rotorcraft and its military operators," said Chitra Kashikar, Astronautics' program manager of connected aircraft solutions.

Astronautics' AeroSync product line variants are also the line-fit connectivity solutions for Airbus' medium and light helicopter platforms: H145, H160, H125, and H130.
