Baylands Boardwalk Pilings Repair Project Update

Baylands Boardwalk Pilings Repair Project Update

Published on August 28, 2024

Necessary repairs are set to begin in early September on the pilings of the Baylands Boardwalk at the Lucy Evans Interpretive Nature Center. Repairs involve installation of a fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) wrap around the pilings and grouting the internal spaces between the pilings and the wrap will reinforce the structure.

While the boardwalk will remain open as much as possible, intermittent closures of sections will be necessary during construction to ensure public safety. Signage and barriers during closures will be provided. The San Francisquito Creek trail, the external walkway of the Interpretive Center, and the main parking lot will remain fully accessible throughout the project. Project completion expected by January 2025.
