The Boston Police Department Remembers the Service and Sacrifice of Patrolman Seth A. Noyes 154 Years Ago

BPD Remembers: The men and women of the Boston Police Department remember the service and sacrifice of Patrolman Seth A. Noyes who died 154 years ago. While on duty in South Boston in 1867, Patrolman Seth A. Noyes suffered life-threatening injuries which resulted in permanent paralysis while making an arrest. He remained hospitalized for the remainder of his life, ultimately passing away three years later on Tuesday October 18, 1870.

Patrolman Noyes was 41 years old at the time of his passing and had served with the Boston Police Department for ten years. He was survived by his wife.

Patrolman Noyes is buried at the Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, MA. His name is located on the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington D.C. Panel 63, East Line 30. His name is also forever engraved on the Hero Wall at Boston Police Headquarters and the Massachusetts Law Enforcement Memorial at the State House in Boston.
