On Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at 1:43 p.m., Portland Police officers assigned to East Precinct were dispatched to a report of an armed robbery of a pedestrian involving a gun in the 4500 block of Southeast 122nd Avenue. No one was injured.
Officers quickly located a suspect, who ran into the neighborhood in an effort to elude police. Officers believe they have contained the suspect inside of a perimeter. Traffic is restricted in and around the perimieter, Southeast 124th Avenue to Southeast 128th Avenue, Southeast Harold Avenue and Southeast Reedway Avenue. Residents have been notified via the Public Alerts system.
At least one home was evacuated 12700 block of Southeast Reedway Street. Also, some students from nearby Alice Ott Middle School, 12500 Southeast Ramona Street, who live within the perimeter, are being cared for at the school and their families have been notified. Portland Police School Liaison officer is working directly with David Douglas School District.
The Portland Police Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT) and the Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) were activated at 3:51 p.m.
