Town of Alden - Alden Central School District Capital Project 2024 “Foundation for the Future”

Negative Declaration

Erie County - The Alden Central School District, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Alden Central School District Capital Project 2024 "Foundation for the Future" will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the includes various renovations and upgrades at the District's facilities including the High School ("HS"), Intermediate/Middle School ("I/MS"), Primary School ("PS"), Bus Garage, and Maintenance Building.

Proposed District-wide improvements at each of the schools, Bus Garage, and Maintenance Building include fire alarm, clock / public address, phone, and security (cameras and access controls platform) systems. Electrical upgrades including emergency generators and panel and wiring upgrades are planned at the HS and I/MS. Other proposed upgrades include HS water treatment and plumbing upgrades; data fiber infrastructure between the I/MS and HS; I/MS library and kitchen / cafeteria renovations including adjacent hallways, classrooms, and building structure areas; windows and masonry work in select areas of the I/MS; elevator modernization at the HS and I/MS, and roofs in sections of the HS and PS. Proposed site work includes pavement upgrades including parking areas and drop-off loops at the HS and I/MS campus, and PS playground and septic system upgrades and associated site improvements at both buildings.

If funds are available, other possible items may include District-wide HVAC management controls, cooling of HS and PS cafeterias and I/MS auditorium, additional windows at the I/MS and PS, HS accessibility improvements including ramps and exterior upgrades, and other mechanical, electrical, and plumbing system upgrades at all buildings. The project is located at the schools mentioned above in the town of Alden.
