Iván Jaime and Galeno scored the goals in FC Porto's victory in the Azores (2-0)

Two matches, two victories, five goals scored and zero conceded: this is how FC Porto started the championship. In their debut away from home, after the victory over Gil Vicente (3-0) at Estádio do Dragão, the blue and whites went to Ponta Delgada to beat Santa Clara 2-0 and kept the clean sheet in the 2024/25 season. The goals that gave the three points and the lead were scored by Iván Jaime, for the third time this season, and Galeno, for the fourth.

Vítor Bruno changed the team again, sending in Vasco Sousa and Fran Navarro to replace Eustáquio and Gonçalo Borges, and the first goal situation belonged to the home team, but Diogo Costa was there to save it and kept the scoreboard unchanged. The scare was good for the Dragons, who reacted in the best possible way: with a goal.

The clock was already past the quarter of an hour when a clearance from Galeno ended at the feet of Nico González, who moved up meters through the middle and passed to Iván Jaime. Flamboyant as always, the Spanish midfielder shot with power, placed and low, straight into the goal defended by goalkeeper Gabriel Batista, finally opening the scoreboard of Estádio de São Miguel (1-0).

Eight minutes later, 24 minutes in, Iván Jaime found Fran Navarro with an accurate pass that the forward received and only failed to score because he was tackled in the area by Alysson. In charge of taking the penalty, Galeno made it count and extended the lead (2-0) that he made a point of keeping 30 minutes in, when he saved Diogo Costa's hastiness, by clearing a ball on the goal line. In stoppage time, Jaime, Nico and Martim came up with an attack worthy of beach football that almost allowed the number 17 to score his second.

The same 22 players came back for the second half, but Adriano Firmino was soon sent-off, as he viciously stepped on the ankle of Alan Varela, with the red card being shown after VAR Rui Oliveira pointed at the footage. Eustáquio replaced Nico González, Pepê replaced Fran Navarro, André Franco and Gonçalo Borges replaced Vasco Sousa and Iván Jaime and the Canadian international midfielder forced the opposing goalkeeper to a tight save.

Gonçalo Borges aimed at the upper angle close to the end, but Gabriel Batista flew and held on to the 2-0, just before Rodrigo Venâncio came close to beating Diogo Costa. Vítor Bruno finally send in Toni Martínez for his debut in the season. Fábio Veríssimo's final whistle confirmed the result reached in minute 25.
