Interstate 80 Construction Update for Sierra Corridor

PLACER/NEVADA/SIERRA COUNTIES - Caltrans is reminding motorists of various lane and ramp closures in multiple locations along Interstate 80 (I-80) as several projects and emergency repairs continue in Placer, Nevada and Sierra counties.

Emergency repair work is starting to wrap up for the season, but construction continues on major projects and motorists still may experience delays up to a maximum of two hours and are encouraged to factor in additional travel times along the I-80 Sierra corridor. Here is the breakdown for next week:

• Monte Vista Pavement Rehabilitation Project between Monte Vista and Drum Forebay, various lane and ramp closures will be in place around the clock beginning at 9 p.m. Tuesday, September 3 through 9 a.m. Saturday, September 7.
• Emergency Repairs Location 2 between Whitmore and Blue Canyon, lane and ramp closures will be in place from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, September 4 and Thursday, September 5. Additional work is scheduled from 4 a.m. to noon on Friday, September 6.
• Emergency Repairs Location 3 between Big Bend and Rainbow, lane and ramp closures will be in place from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, September 4 and Thursday, September 5. Additional work is scheduled from 5 a.m. to noon on Friday, September 6.
• Soda Springs Pavement Rehabilitation Project between Troy and Soda Springs, lane closures will be in place from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 4 and Thursday, September 5. Additional work is scheduled from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, September 6.
• Floriston Safety Improvement Project between Hinton Road and Floriston, lane closures will be in place from 9 p.m. Tuesday, September 3 to noon Wednesday, September 4. Additional work is scheduled from 6 p.m. Wednesday, September 4 to 2 p.m. Thursday, September 5 and from 6 p.m. Thursday, September 5 to 10 a.m. Friday, September 6.

• Floriston Safety Improvement Project between Floriston and Hinton Road, lane closures will be in place around the clock from 9 p.m. Tuesday, September 3 to 7 a.m. Thursday, September 5. Additional work is scheduled from noon Thursday, September 5 to noon Friday, September 6.
• Westbound I-80 restripe project between the CHP Scales and State Route 267, lane closures will be in place from 5:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 4 and Thursday, September 5.
• Placer/Nevada bridge preservation project near Soda Springs, lane closures will be in place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, September 4 through Friday, September 6.
• Soda Springs Pavement Rehabilitation Project between Soda Springs and Troy, lane closures will be in place from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 4 through Friday, September 6.
• Emergency Repairs Location 2 between Blue Canyon and Whitmore, lane closures will be in place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, September 4.
• Monte Vista Pavement Rehabilitation Project between Drum Forebay and Monte Vista, lane and ramp closures will be in place around the clock from 9 p.m. Tuesday, September 3 through 9 a.m. Saturday, September 7.

The extended lane closures will help to minimize the duration of the work and improve workers' safety. For more information on each project visit Caltrans District 3 Current Projects. The schedule is subject to change or be delayed due to weather, availability of materials or other unexpected events.

Caltrans District 3 is responsible for maintaining and operating 4,385 lane miles in 11 Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties. Caltrans reminds motorists to "Be Work Zone Alert" and slow in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews performing these improvements.
