Army’s new Chief of Staff appointed

Major General Dinesh Nanayakkara of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment has been appointed as the Chief of Staff of Sri Lanka Army (SLA) with effect from September 16.

Maj. Gen. Nanayakkara, an illustrious military officer with a distinguished military career spanning over 35 years is also the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF).

Maj. Gen. Nanayakkara has held many key appointments in the SLA including the Centre Commandant of the Military Intelligence Corps, General Officer Commanding the 21 Infantry Division and Commander of the Security Forces Headquarters (Wanni).

In addition he is the Colonel of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment. He has also served as the Military Liaison Officer of the Ministry of Defence.
