City Council Approves Crime Control and Prevention District Budget

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - At today's regularly scheduled meeting of the Corpus Christi City Council, Mayor Paulette Guajardo and the City Council approved the FY 2025 budget for the Corpus Christi Crime Control and Prevention District in the amount of $11,871,085.

The budget for the Crime Control and Prevention District will provide funding for 78 police officers, eight replacement vehicles, and essential equipment to enhance their operations.

"During my entire service, I have supported hiring more police officers to keep our city safe," said Mayor Paulette Guajardo. "I will continue to work hard to ensure our Corpus Christi Police Department has the equipment they need to do the job."

"Thank you to the community and our City leaders for their support in using the 1/8-cent sales tax to fund our city's Crime Control District," Police Chief Mike Markle said. "This funding is vital for the support of 78 police officers, including equipment and vehicles. This is another great example of our community supporting its police department."

The Crime Control and Prevention District receives funding from a 1/8-cent sales tax, which provides additional funds to enhance law enforcement efforts in the City of Corpus Christi.
