Emergency Flood Repairs Continue on Little Pine Creek Road in Lycoming County

Montoursville, PA - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources provides an update on Little Pine Creek Road (Route 4001) and Little Pine State Park in Cummings Township, Lycoming County.

Emergency Repairs
Between Friday, September 20, 2024 through Saturday, September 28, 2024, the contractor, Glenn O. Hawbaker, will continue the emergency repairs on Little Pine Creek Road between Little Pine Creek Dam and English Center. Work includes pavement repairs, paving, debris removal, guide rail replacement, and shoulder backup.

Glenn O. Hawbaker is the prime contractor for this emergency flood repair project. Work includes repairing the substructure of the three-span Carsontown Bridge, full depth roadway reconstruction, slope and scour protection, debris and deposition removal, guiderail resetting, base repairs and shoulder backup.

Little Pine State Park
All facilities at Little Pine State Park are now open. Visitors are asked to use caution and stay out of areas that flood debris remains. For additional information please visit Little Pine State Park or call 570-753-6000.

(UPDATE)Traffic Impacts

  • Little Pine Creek Road (Route 4001) is closed between Carsontown Road south of the bridge and Big Buck Lodge Lane north of the bridge, Pine Township. A detour using Route 287, Route 973, and Route 44 is in place.
    • (NEW) Little Pine Creek Road is tentatively scheduled to be opened the week of Monday, September 23.
    • (NEW) Remaining work will be performed under single lane conditions with flagging.
  • Motorists who are traveling to the Little Pine State Park Campground using Route 287 south should use Route 287, Route 973, Route 44, and Little Pine Creek Road.


Motorists should be alert, slow down, expect delays in travel and drive with caution.

Anyone who drives around barriers intended to close a road can face increased penalties if emergency responders are called to rescue motorists who disregard traffic control signs.

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras.
