Breaking changes

Deployment API query: parameters are now validated and rejected if the value is invalid

Platform | Platform Services

Previously, the deployment API endpoints performed a fallback to the default value if the given value was invalid. With this change, the request will be rejected due to constraint violations.

New features and enhancements

New type of synthetic tests - Network Availability Monitoring

Digital Experience | Synthetic Monitoring

We extended the scope of synthetic monitoring with a new type of synthetic test - Network Availability Monitoring (NAM), which consists of the following types ICMP, TCP and DNS. With this improvement, you can have 24/7 insight into the health of infrastructure and the network providing access to it.

Alerting about a broken AWS monitoring configuration

Infrastructure Observability | AWS

A new alert is created if any of the AWS/Azure monitoring configurations stops working.

Added the ability to enable/disable AWS credentials monitoring

Infrastructure Observability | AWS

Added the ability to enable/disable AWS credentials monitoring. This is available for both existing and new AWS connections. By default, all AWS credentials are monitored. Disabled credentials don't actively collect metrics, entities, and tags from your monitored AWS account.

Kubernetes: alerting streamlined for graceful shutdowns

Infrastructure Observability | Kubernetes

Previously, if a Kubernetes node was gracefully shut down, you would get an alert that the host was unavailable. Now, whenever there is a graceful shutdown, there is no alert unless you explicitly choose to get alerts for graceful shutdowns (configurable via Settings, disabled by default).

New field for container entities (CGI)

Infrastructure Observability | Kubernetes

Added a new field for container entities (CGI) called that identifies a specific container image/version. This is displayed on the Container page and is included in the entity API response.

Declarative technology is displayed as a main technology

Infrastructure Observability | Hosts

A declarative technology is now shown as the main technology on Dynatrace pages.

Technology overview page now shows all process group technologies

Infrastructure Observability | Hosts

Added technology tiles for all technologies of a process group instead of just one for the main technology.

Warning for declaratively grouped deep-monitored processes

Infrastructure Observability | Hosts

A warning message will be displayed for deep monitored processes that fall into declarative grouping, which makes some data unavailable.

Agent migration from Managed to SaaS

Infrastructure Observability | Hosts

Added a process for agent migration from Dynatrace Managed environment to SaaS tenant.

New request attribute source available for CICS path name

Application Observability | Distributed Traces

We have added support for the CICS path name request attribute source.

Maintenance windows page improved

Cross Solutions | Maintenance windows

The Maintenance windows page now pre-selects the local browser time zone.

Self-monitoring metric for management zones

Cross Solutions | Self-monitoring

Added a self-monitoring metric () to count the number of queried management zones.

Apache Commons Compress updated

Cross Solutions | Security

Apache Commons Compress has been updated from version 1.21 to 1.26.2 in response to CVE-2024-26308 and CVE-2024-25710.

Resolved issues

General Availability (Build 1.296.8)

The 1.296 GA release contains 7 resolved issues.

Cluster

  • For Davis Grail event records, `dt.entity.<type>.name` is now also set for entities that are part of `related_entity_ids`. (DI-14796)
  • The metrics in the 'Quotas' section on the Kubernetes namespace details page are now split by the individual resource quota instance. (K8S-10296)
  • Fixed an issue in which, for premium high availability Managed clusters, after a data center failover, problems created during the failover period were not manually closeable. (DI-15087)
  • Fixed retrieval of RDS and TransitGateway infrastructure and metrics for customers with large amounts of instances. (PCLOUDS-4416)
  • Improved the timeframe calculation for "Today" in the timeframe selector (previous Dynatrace). (PAPA-18244)
  • Fixed OneAgent features being duplicated on non-tenant scopes after the feature changes from Beta to GA (previous Dynatrace). (TI-12776)
  • Fixed a bug in metric export to Grail that would lead to some metric values being incorrectly assigned to other series. (GRAIL-28414)
