General He Weidong meets foreign military guests attending Beijing Xiangshan Forum

BEIJING, Sep. 13 -- General He Weidong, vice chairman of China's Central Military Commission, met in Beijing on Friday respectively with Myanmar's Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Defense Admiral Tin Aung San, South African Minister of Defense and Military Veterans Ms Angie Motshekga, and Pakistani Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff CommitteeLt. Gen. Sahir Shamshad Mirza, who are attending the 11th Beijing Xiangshan Forum.

During the meeting with Admiral Tin Aung San, General He Weidong expressed the hope that the two militaries would work together to further consolidate strategic mutual trust, deepen pragmatic cooperation, strengthen multilateral cooperation, jointly maintain the security and stability in the China-Myanmar border area, continuously improve the level of bilateral military relations, and continue to write a new chapter in the Pauk-Phaw Friendship between China and Myanmar.

Admiral Tin Aung San first expressed thanks to China for its valuable support on issues related to Myanmar's core interests and major concerns. He said that Myanmar has always firmly adhered to the one-China principle, and does not allow anyone or any force to use its territory to do things that harm China's interests. Myanmar will remain committed to maintaining peace and stability in the Myanmar-China border area, so that the two countries and peoples can share peace and tranquility.

During the meeting with Ms Angie Motshekga, He Weidong said that the Chinese military is willing to strengthen strategic communication with the South African military, promote deeper and more practical cooperation between the two militaries, and jointly defend international fairness and justice.

Ms Angie Motshekga stated that as a trusted and reliable friend of China, South Africa firmly adheres to the one-China principle and is willing to strengthen collaboration and cooperation with China in international and regional affairs, continuously deepen practical bilateral cooperation in defense and security, and build a closer relationship between the two countries and their militaries.

During the meeting with Lt. Gen. Sahir Shamshad Mirza, He Weidong said that the military-to-military relationship between China and Pakistan is an important pillar of the relationship between the two countries. Both sides should further strengthen high-level strategic mutual trust, high-level practical cooperation, and high-level security cooperation, firmly support each other on issues related to each other's core interests and major concerns, and jointly safeguard the strategic interests of the two countries and regional peace and stability.

Lt. Gen. Sahir Shamshad Mirza said that Pakistan agrees with and supports Chinese President Xi Jinping's Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, and Global Civilization Initiative, and looks forward to China playing a more important role in regional and international affairs. The Pakistani side is willing to stand firmly with China, work together to meet the challenges posed by a world that is intertwined and chaotic, resolutely fight against terrorism, and ensure the security of the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor, thus bringing more benefits to the two countries and peoples.
