​Road was closed for large pipe replacement; detour lifted

Harrisburg, PA - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that Route 944 (Wertzville Road) in Cumberland County, is open to traffic. The road was closed so a PennDOT maintenance crew could replace a large pipe between Peacock Drive and Deer Lane in Middlesex Township.

A detour associated with the closure has been lifted. Some finishing work remains that may require short-term lane restrictions under flagging.

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras.​ 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following local alerts on X. ​
