UAA Spirit Run: Run Against Hunger to Support Food Insecurity Fund

The University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) and race partner, Skinny Raven, are proud to announce the upcoming UAA Spirit Run: Run Against Hunger, taking place on Saturday, Sep. 28, 2024, at 9 a.m. at the Alaska Airlines Center.

This annual event aims to bring the UAA community together each fall. This year, participants can lace up their running shoes and join a community-wide effort to support the UAA Food Insecurity Fund. This fund directly benefits critical programs, including the UAA Food Pantry, which provides essential resources to the nearly 45 percent of students on campus that, based on a recent report, are experiencing food insecurity.

"Food insecurity is a growing concern, not just in our community, but across the nation. Through this year's Spirit Run, we hope to bring people together to address this issue head-on while promoting health and wellness and sharing in the beauty of the UAA campus," said Trenten Hall, Program Director for Seawolf Dining at UAA.

"The funds raised from this event will significantly impact the provision of support to our students, who will succeed both academically and personally."

The race is open to runners and walkers of all ages and abilities, making it an inclusive event for the entire community. For those wishing to donate without breaking a sweat, there is an option to do so without committing to run on the registration webpage.
