City of Riverside Invites Resident to Celebrate July as Park and Recreation Month

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - The City of Riverside's Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department invites the community to celebrate July as Park and Recreation Month in recognition of how Riverside is stronger, more vibrant, and more resilient because of parks and recreation. Activities for all ages and abilities include Free Swim Days, Movies in the Park, Concerts in the Park, and Rec-2-Go + Kona Ice.

The celebration, part of an initiative of the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), asks the community to share on social media its experiences, memories, and stories about what parks and recreation mean to them with #WhereYouBelong and #ILoveRiversideParks.

From youth sports and senior programming to community events and providing safe spaces in your neighborhood, there are plenty of ways to celebrate with us!

"At the heart of our community lie our parks and recreational spaces, which play a crucial role in promoting health and wellness, ensuring equity, and championing conservation. As we gather to celebrate these vital resources, we recognize their profound impact on our lives," said Noemi Lopez, PRCSD Deputy Director. "They provide a sanctuary for physical activity, a platform for inclusive engagement, and a commitment to preserving our natural environment for future generations. This month, we honor the spaces that enrich our community and the efforts that make them accessible and sustainable for all."
