Texas earns grade of A in Digital States Survey, Outstanding Achievement Award in Leadership

AUSTIN-The state of Texas has earned an overall grade of A in the 2024 Digital States Survey and received an Outstanding Achievement Award for the state's exemplary work in leadership.

The Center for Digital Government announced the results of its 2024 Digital States Survey on Thursday, September 26. The Digital States Survey, conducted biennially, evaluates how state government uses technology to improve service delivery, increase capacity, streamline operations, and reach state priorities.

Texas achieved its highest score ever, receiving an overall grade of A in the 2024 Digital States Survey. The grade of A reflects a state whose technology leaders are using very strong innovation and high-performing solutions and have applied excellent practices in all aspects of operations, governance, and administration. Texas is one of nine states that achieved an A grade.

"As our state continues to experience unprecedented growth, our need to improve service delivery, increase capacity, and streamline operations for state government technology is critical to help build a bigger, better Texas," said Texas Governor Greg Abbott. "I am proud of this incredible achievement that demonstrates the robust work the State of Texas continues to do in service to Texans. I thank the Texas Department of Information Resources for collaborating and working closely with the various state agencies and private sector partners to ensure a brighter future for generations to come."

Additionally, Texas received an Outstanding Achievement Award in Leadershipfor the state's exemplary work in recognition of the Governor's priorities that direct the statewide technology strategy to ensure strong working relationships, planning, policies, and coordination with agencies.

"This achievement is a testament to the leadership of Governor Abbott and the Texas Legislature, and the strong teamwork and collaboration that exists among the various agencies in Texas government, as well as with our private sector partners," said Ben Gatzke, Chair of the Texas Department of Information Resources' Board of Directors. "We appreciate the opportunity to benchmark our efforts against other states, and we are especially proud to be among the ranks of the states receiving an A."

Texas will be honored at an awards ceremony on September 29, 2024, during the National Association of State Chief Information Officers annual conference in New Orleans, along with other states.
