Suspect Arrested, Charged in Shooting at 10555 South Wilcrest Drive

August 16, 2024- Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the shooting of a man at 10555 South Wilcrest Drive about 3:55 a.m. on Thursday (Aug. 15).

The suspect, Vatisha Wright, 41, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 209th State District Court. A booking photo of Wright is attached to this news release.

The victim, 23, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

HPD Major Assaults and Family Violence Division Detective B. Godoy reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting in the parking lot of a business at the above address and found the male suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers learned the male was shot while seated in his vehicle. Paramedics transported him to the hospital.

Officers located Wright near the scene. She was detained and admitted to her role in the incident.

Investigators consulted the Harris County District Attorney's Office and Wright was charged for her role in the shooting.
