Celebrating Summer at San Domenico Palace, Taormina, A Four Seasons Hotel 'to the Sound of Music' with Musician and Cinematic Composer Andrea Vanzo

A temple of the arts, San Domenico Palace has always inspired artists in the fields of photography, painting, cinema, and music.

Musical guests who stayed at San Domenico Palace have been the composer and conductor Richard Strauss (twice), the soprano Lucia Aliberti, the conductors Claudio Abbado and Wolfgang Sawallisch, as well as the violinist Yehudi Menuhin.

In 2021, when San Domenico Palace reopened its doors as a Four Seasons Hotel, it further enriched this list of illustrious guests from the music scene.

There is one object that grabs the attention of all those who visit the Hotel: the grand piano. Recognizable also thanks to the scenes of the famous TV series The White Lotus, this elegant piano accompanies the most exciting moments in the Hotel, becoming an instrument of conviviality of the iconic Bar & Chiostro.

To celebrate World Music Day on June 21, 2024 and mark the first day of summer, San Domenico Palace has chosen to collaborate with composer Andrea Vanzo.

Andrea Vanzo is an award-winning musician and film composer, whose music has always been a catalyst, expressing deep emotions and moods especially in the fascinating world of cinema and theatre, where he finds his ideal artistic dimension.

His compositions evoke a nostalgic and enveloping atmosphere, developed through a post-minimalist style. Andrea combines modern classical music with elements of the pop soundscape to create an unprecedented and cinematic musical language.

In Sicily Andrea was seduced by the allure of the landscape, drawing inspiration from it to compose a new track entitled Etna, which he reveals on the occasion of the World Music Day in collaboration with San Domenico Palace, Taormina, A Four Seasons Hotel.

Etna will be live on Instagram accompanying the most poetic reels and on YouTube in its full version soon. Filled with breathtaking images of Sicily and this iconic hotel, the sound and video are a celebration of this island rich in colours and landscapes, source of inspiration for myriad artists.
