What?

Rollerrama at Kendall Common, a pop-up roller skating rink and social space bringing the community together with food, drinks, music, makers markets, and more. Kendall Common's mission is to "nurture the vibrancy that comes from diversity…led by the energy of diverse individuals coming together…building a space dedicated to communal strides." The roller rink is supporting a number of local organizations and welcomes a $5 donation.

When?

The roller rink is open through September 29, Wednesdays through Fridays from 2 to 8 pm and weekends from 11 am to 8 pm.

Where?

The rink is on the corner of Broadway and Third in Kendall Square, Cambridge. The closest T stop is Kendall/MIT on the MBTA Red Line.

How much?

The event and skate rentals are free, but be sure to reserve a session here (spots are available through September 15). Bring money for the concession stand, food trucks, and a wine and beer garden.

Why should I go?

We're guessing the last time you roller-skated was a middle school birthday party, so head to Cambridge's Kendall Common for some throwback fun. You can bring your own skates or rent a pair for free at this pop-up rink. The rink has live music while you skate, as well as a roller disco snack bar, rotating food trucks, and a beer and wine garden to enjoy after a few laps.

It also hosts DJ nights on select Thursday and Friday evenings from 6 to 8 pm. This includes sets from the DJ collective Spin the Bottle, who take skaters through various decades of grooves. On select Saturdays there is also a Drift & Drag event, where drag kings and queens take center stage for a performance you can watch or skate alongside.

If you aren't a pro, don't worry. The rink is open for the strongest skaters and beginners alike. And if you lack confidence on wheels, it even offers free "My First Skate" lessons from 11 am to noon on Sundays. No matter your skill level, you won't want to miss the opportunity to soak in the summer and roller skate the day away.
