Washington, D.C. - Today, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul issued the following statement on the Biden-Harris administration's delay in delegating sanctions authorities passed by Congress in April.

"I am deeply disappointed it took the Biden-Harris White House five months to delegate the sanctions authorities Congress provided in April to counter the aggression of our adversaries and protect U.S. national security. While the administration dithered, Iran sold ballistic missiles to Russia; Hamas murdered hostages, including American Hersh Goldberg-Polin; and China continued to purchase Iranian oil and support Russia's defense industrial base. Today, on the anniversary of Mahsa Amini's murder by Iran's morality police, I call on the administration to swiftly and fully implement all of the sanctions in my bipartisan 21st Century Peace Through Strength Act. Too much time has been wasted. The world is on fire; we cannot lose another day to hesitation and weakness."
