H.E. Dr. Chea Serey attends the meeting of central bank governors of the French-Speaking countries (Francophon)

H.E.Dr. Chea Serey, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, attends the 30th Meeting of Central Bank Governors of the French-Speaking Countries (Francophon) from 30 to 31 May 2024 in Brussels, Belgium.

The Francophone meeting in 2024 was attended by governors of 20 central banks from 40 countries in Europe, the United States, Africa and Asia.

The meeting discussed 1- Implementing monetary policy in uncertain situations as well as recent developments 2- Resisting climate change 3- Geopolitical segregation 4- Strengthening cyber security and 5- Central bank independence.

On that occasion, H.E. also shared Cambodia's experience in contributing to combating climate change by participating in regional and international networks related to green finance, implementing the principles of supporting sustainable financing in the banking system and international reserve investment on green bonds. H.E. also called for more involvement of international foundations and financial institutions, as well as developed countries, in supporting green financing and strengthening cooperation and solidarity in supporting green investment projects, purchasing mutual green cards and so on.

It should be noted that the Francophone meeting is held every two years with the aim of strengthening cooperation between Francophone member countries and exchanging views and experiences on key issues related to the central bank.
