PennWest student Nydirah Torrence received the K. Leroy Irvis Undergraduate Scholarship at the 53rd Annual Conference of the Pennsylvania Black Conference on Higher Education, held June 14 at the University of Pittsburgh.

Torrence graduated in May 2024 with a bachelor's degree in biology, with a focus in physical therapy. As a student on PennWest's Clarion campus, Torrence was a member of Allies and enjoyed attending campus activities, hanging out with friends, and cooking. A Philadelphia resident, Torrence will use the scholarship to support continuing education in graduate school this fall.

The K. Leroy Irvis Undergraduate Scholarship provides financial assistance to underrepresented populations who are enrolled as undergraduates at colleges in Pennsylvania. Students who demonstrate outstanding leadership and academic strength are welcome to apply.
