City of Eugene to host two transportation info fairs

The City of Eugene will host two Transportation Info Fairs next month, giving residents a chance to provide feedback on local transportation projects in both the River Road and Santa Clara neighborhoods and downtown Eugene.

The first fair will focus on the River Road and Santa Clara neighborhoods and will be 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, at North Eugene High School (250 Silver Lane). Attendees will learn about and give input on several upcoming projects, including plans for roundabouts and bike infrastructure on Division Avenue, the extension of the Westbank Path to Wilkes Drive, and the potential construction of a bicycle and pedestrian bridge over Beltline. Staff will also be available to discuss upcoming improvements to Hunsaker Lane and safety enhancements for Grove Street.

The second fair, focused on downtown Eugene, will be 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, at the Eugene Library in the Bascom-Tykeson Room (100 W 10th Avenue). The downtown event will cover upcoming changes to transportation in downtown including a new bikeway on Lincoln, modifications to Broadway, and updates to Sixth and Seventh avenues. Staff will also be sharing info on the conversion of Hilyard Street to two-way traffic, the long-awaited railroad quiet zones, and info on how the Franklin Boulevard Transformation will connect to downtown.

Both events are organized to make it easier for residents to provide feedback on several projects in their area without having to attend multiple meetings.

"The City recognizes that it takes a lot of time to come out and offer feedback on our projects. We want to respect the community's effort by providing space for feedback on all transportation projects in a given neighborhood on one night, rather than several one-off meetings" said Willow Hamilton, community engagement coordinator for the City's Transportation Planning team. The City of Eugene invites all residents to participate, share their views and connect with City staff.
