On Friday 05 July 2024, Enniskillen Castle and Strule Arts Centre will be illuminated blue to mark Action Mesothelioma Day, the national awareness for asbestos and mesothelioma, a cancer caused by exposure to asbestos.

More people die from exposure to asbestos than die in road traffic accidents per year with over 2,700 people per year are diagnosed with mesothelioma, a type of cancer that is entirely preventable.

On Monday 08 July 2024, buildings will be lit up in green in recognition of the 29th anniversary of genocide at Srebrenica, one of the five genocides recognised as part of holocaust memorial day.

The genocide started on 11th July 1995. More than 8,000 people were killed in ten days toward the end of the Bosnian War.
