SCDOT to temporarily close part of Mt. Bethel Garmany Road in Newberry County as part of I-26 Rehabilitation Project

Columbia, S.C.(July 8, 2024) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation will temporarily close a portion of Mt. Bethel Garmany Road in Newberry County to raise the bridge over I-26 as part of the I-26 Rehabilitation Project. The closure will begin on July 15 and is expected to last until the end of August.

The bridge is being raised to allow better clearance for trucks and other large vehicles traveling on I-26.

During the closure, the portion of Mt. Bethel Garmany Road from the intersection of General Henderson Road to Short Cut Road will be open to local traffic only. A map of the closure can be found below.
