FM 518 TxDOT Sidewalk Project

If you've driven on FM 518 just west of I-45 anytime recently you've encountered a major TxDOT construction project. The project is creating a 10-foot sidewalk from Palomino Lane to Williamsport Street. When completed the sidewalk will provide a safer route for pedestrians and bicyclists-particularly students traveling to and from Creekside Intermediate and Clear Springs High School.

Currently, TxDOT crews are constructing the sidewalk next to the westbound lane, which has caused lane shifting for motorists to accommodate crews working behind concrete barriers placed at the shoulder of the road. TxDOT hopes to have the westbound portion of the sidewalk completed before the start of school. The entire project is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

TxDOT project managers are working with the schools in the immediate area to ensure students will be safe once the school year starts-particularly those who walk and bike to campus.
