Nebraska Democratic Party Statement on Mike McDonnell Entering the Omaha Mayoral Race

LINCOLN, NE - The Nebraska Democratic Party Chair Jane Kleeb issues the following statement regarding Mike McDonnell entering the Omaha mayoral race today:

"The Democratic Party has two strong candidates for Mayor with Douglas County Treasurer John Ewing and community leader Jasmine Harris who are ready to defeat Jean Stothert. Our party is ready to do everything we can to ensure Stothert does not win a fourth term and instead elect a Mayor who will not waste money on pointless street cars, will fix potholes, and end the politics of revenge that has been the hallmark of Jean's tenure." - NDP Chair Jane Kleeb

"Republicans are dissatisfied with their current leadership and are running against their incumbent Mayor, rightfully so. We too believe Omaha needs a change and is ready for leaders with a new vision and who are present in our great city. We're proud to have Democratic leaders John Ewing and Jasmine Harris stepping up to provide that leadership and address the needs of this city. They'll focus on the infrastructure needs here in Omaha. Our residents deserve to have resources used to improve their lives. The dollars spent on the long-delayed Crossroads project and the questionable value of the street cars show a lack of focus on the desires and needs here in Omaha. We look forward to a new beginning with a Democratic Mayor elected on May 13. " - DCDP Chair CJ King
