CONGRESSMAN BISHOP REMEMBERS MUSICAL GREAT FRANKIE BEVERLY

September 11, 2024
WASHINGTON -Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) remembered musical great, Frankie Beverly, following the announcement that the renowned singer, songwriter, producer, and performer had passed away:

"I was deeply saddened to learn that Frankie Beverly passed away. He left an indelible mark on American music and culture.

"He formed the band Maze and remained a prolific performer, always on tour. His music was a constant presence in musical culture - from family gatherings and community festivities to Historically Black College and University stadiums and marching bands. His work influenced countless artists, as evidenced by Beyoncé's 2019 cover of his hit single, 'Before I Let Go.'

"To say that he engaged an audience would be an understatement. His concerts were a conversation between him and legions of passionate fans. His music resonated across generations. And, though through his songs he will be long remembered, we will deeply miss his soulful voice."
