GLOBAL EDMONTON ANNOUNCES CIARA YASCHUK AS NEW WEATHER ANCHOR

EDMONTON, September 21, 2023 - Global Edmonton announced today that community reporter Ciara Yaschukis joining the city's #1 morning news program, Global News Morning, and Global News at Noon, as its new weather anchor starting on Monday, October 2.

"We're thrilled that Ciara is joining Global News Morning and Global News at Noon," said Deb Zinck, Executive Producer, Global Edmonton. "Having provided weather coverage for us on several newscasts, we knew that she would be an amazing addition to the team. We would like to thank Global Edmonton's Daintre Christensen and Tracie Gray for providing stellar weather and traffic coverage after weather anchor Phil Darlington moved to Global Edmonton's evening newscasts. Daintre will return to keeping viewers up to date with their morning commute."

Born and raised in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Ciara began her broadcast career in radio after graduating from Broadcast Journalism from the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT). A reporter and anchor at Global Saskatoon first, she joined Global Edmonton in 2021. When she is not working, she is a spin instructor and a volunteer at Ronald McDonald House Charities Alberta.

"When I started my career, it was on the morning show in Saskatoon," said Ciara Yaschuk. "I fell in love with the flow of it, the energy, and weirdly enough the hours. My goal since moving to Global Edmonton has been to get back on the morning show, so to be joining the #1 morning team in Edmonton is truly an honour. I'm so excited to wake up with viewers each morning."
