Union After Dark, sponsored by the University of Wyoming's 7220 Entertainment office, will host its final event of the fall semester Friday, Dec. 6. The free "Winter Wonderland" program begins at 8 p.m. in the Wyoming Union and is open to students and the community.
The evening will feature a performance by comedian Pete Lee, interactive activities such as ornament-making, a photo booth and a catered Italian dinner.
Designed to create a welcoming and inclusive space, Union After Dark brings students together to relax, connect and enjoy a variety of entertainment. According to Journy Clawson, 7220 Entertainment student event coordinator, the impact of Union After Dark extends beyond the night itself.
"In my opinion, the biggest impact of Union After Dark is the way that it provides a fun and safe place for students to gather and come together," Clawson says. "The event is low-pressure and creates an open environment for students to bring friends or make new ones without the stress of joining a club or specific group."
Another impact is that the program provides students who live on campus with a chance to enjoy a break from the dining hall and enjoy a catered meal, she adds.
"For students facing food insecurity, these meals also can offer meaningful support," Clawson says. "Finally, Union After Dark gives students a much-needed break from academics and provides a sober Friday night option that is fun and worth attending."
Union After Dark events will continue throughout the academic year, offering new activities and entertainment on Fridays, Feb. 7, March 7 and April 4.
