Police investigating suspicious death in southside ravine

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is investigating a suspicious death that took place in Millcreek Ravine earlier today.

At approximately 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2024, Southwest Branch patrol officers were called by Edmonton Fire Rescue Services (EFRS) regarding a death in Millcreek Ravine just north of 85 Avenue and west of the Millcreek Ravine parking lot. EFRS responded to a reported fire in the area and, after extinguishing the fire, located a deceased person.

EPS Homicide Section has since taken over the investigation and detectives continue to work to identify the deceased. An autopsy has been scheduled for Wednesday, July 3, 2024.

Investigators are seeking tips related to this death and are asking anyone who frequents the ravine and may have noticed activity in this area to contact the police as soon as possible. A map of the area is included below.
