  • SOVA Digital a.s. (SOVA)

What will this project provide?

The project will enable the development of innovative solutions for logistics in manufacturing settings and for energy metering.

How will it work?

The project's private 5G standalone networkwill enable the implementation of two use cases:

  • 5G smart logistics

The network will enable the use of real-time location systems (RTLS) in manufacturing environments, allowing the optimisation of production and logistics processes, resulting in faster and more efficient delivery of goods.

  • Smart metering

The network will enable the development of a smart energy metering platform with real-time analytics on energy use and efficiency, as well as machine-learning algorithms for better communication and automated workflows, improving the efficiency and reliability of energy monitoring and management systems.

How will it be built?

The project will deploy a private 5G standalone networkusing C-band spectrum of 3720 MHz - 3800 MHz. The network will offer download speeds of 650 Mbps and will comprise:

  • 10 indoor radio units;
  • 2 network controllers;
  • 2 basebands;
  • 24 radio dot antennas;
  • Power distribution unit for routers and basebands;
  • Cloud-based network manager;
  • Cloud resources.

How is it financed?

The project has a total budget of €1.66 million, of which €1.25 million under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) Digital programme.

Who is involved?

The project is lead by Slovak Telekom a.s. (ST), as project coordinator, with Technická univerzita v Košiciach/ Technical University of Košice (TUKE) and SOVA Digital a.s. (SOVA) as beneficiaries.
