Three Forsyth County commissioners and the Forsyth County Sheriff were sworn in to office in a ceremony held Tuesday, Dec. 17, at the Forsyth County Administration Building. See more pictures here.
Commissioners Alfred John, Laura Semanson, newly elected Mendy Moore and Sheriff Ron Freeman took the oath of office for the 2025-2028 term before county residents and representatives in the ceremony officiated by Forsyth County Probate Judge Daisy Weeks-Marisko.
The newest member of the Board of Commissioners, Moore, will represent District 4, which covers the northeast portion of the county, including much of the Lake Lanier region. Moore fills the post held by Cindy Jones Mills, who did not run for re-election.
John was sworn in for his second term representing District 2, which encompasses the southeastern portion of the county.
Semanson was sworn in for her third term representing District 5, which extends from the county's southern boundary to Cumming.
Freeman will serve his third term as Forsyth County Sheriff.
The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners is made up of five members, each living in a specific district and elected by their district to serve four-year terms. The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office is responsible for law enforcement services, jail management, court security and serving the writs and papers of the courts.
