Margoschis Chosen to Lead Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital as Its New CEO

AUBURN, Calif. - Shanthi Margoschis, who has 30 years of healthcare experience as a registered nurse and hospital administrator, has been named the new CEO of Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital.

Margoschis succeeds Mitch Hanna, Sutter Auburn Faith's longtime CEO who retired earlier this year after a 38-year career with Sutter Health.

"We are excited to bring Shanthi to Auburn to lead our incredible team as it continues to provide south Placer County and the foothills with quality, compassionate healthcare," said Rachael McKinney, president of Sutter Health's Greater Sacramento market. "Shanthi's clinical background, coupled with her experience in leading complex initiatives, will be invaluable as we continue to provide comprehensive, integrated and connected care and expand access for the community."

Most recently, Margoschis served as chief operating officer, senior vice president and interim area manager for Kaiser Permanente in the San Jose region. She also served as chief nurse executive at Kaiser Permanente hospitals in California. Previously, she was chief nursing executive and a senior director of Mercy Hospitals of Bakersfield.

Margoschis has a doctorate in health administration from the University of Phoenix and both master's and bachelor's degrees in nursing from Christian Medical College and Hospital in Vellore, India. Among her professional development certificates is the Executive Leadership course from Harvard Business School.

In 2021, she was named the Nurse Leader of the Year by the Kaiser Foundation and was a Silicon Valley Woman of Influence that same year.

"Community hospitals provide an important service to residents, and I am committed to ensure that everyone is provided with top-quality, compassionate healthcare," Margoschis said. "Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital has a rich history in south Placer County and throughout the region, and I am thrilled to partner with its physicians, nurses and other staff in delivering the best, affordable care possible."

Margoschis' first day at Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital as the new CEO is scheduled for Sept. 3.
