The public is invited to help celebrate a new Fort Worth Public Library branch slated to open Saturday, Aug. 31, in the Clifford Crossing Shopping Center in west Fort Worth.

Doors open at 10 a.m. for the grand opening celebration that day at the new library, located at 9336 Clifford St., Suite 120.

After remarks from District 7 Councilmember Macy Hill and a ribbon-cutting, in-library activities are scheduled to include story time, a 3D printing demonstration, video games available to play, an Olympic trivia contest and a scavenger hunt.

"We are so excited that District 7 residents will have access to a Fort Worth Public Library so much closer to home," Hill said. "I expect the new library to be a popular spot."

It will be the first public library in City Council District 7 since the City completed redistricting. La Gran Biblioteca opened in February 2022 inside La Gran Plaza.

What they're saying: "While we would love to build a brand-new library in every place we need one in Fort Worth, that process can take years," said Library Director Midori Clark. "Finding an existing space in a bustling area will help us deliver services more efficiently."

A mural depicting life in Fort Worth, commissioned by the Library from artist Becca Waugh, adorns a main wall in the new library's children's area. The first 300 guests at the grand opening can receive a Fort Worth coloring book designed by Waugh.

Key details:The Clifford Crossing Branch Library will be open noon-8 p.m. Mondays, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday-Saturday (closed Sundays). It will offer regular programs and activities for all ages in its 5,110 square feet, as well as feature a collection of 17,468 items.

Note that all Fort Worth library locations will be closed on Monday, Sept. 2, in observance of Labor Day.
