New parking stations in SLC deliver inclusive technology, smoother user experience

Aug. 8, 2024

Salt Lake City's Department of Public Services has invested in upgraded technology to replace more than 270 decade-old pay stations for on-street parking in downtown Salt Lake City. The existing pay stations will be removed from mid-August to early October and replaced with entirely new ADA-compliant tablet-based interfaces with several new features.

"We're excited to offer residents and visitors an upgraded pay-to-park experience," said Public Services Deputy Director Julie Crookston. "Users can choose English, Spanish, Vietnamese, or Mandarin and choose how to pay-with coins, credit card, via the ParkSLC mobile app, and now with Google and Apply Pay too."

Overall, residents and visitors can expect a smoother downtown parking experience.

The brand-new black pay stations will be installed by Blinkay in phases beginning on August 12 and concluding in early October. Detailed information on the installation schedule, what to expect the days before an existing machine is replaced, how to use the new pay stations and other parking information can be found at slc.gov/mystreet/parking/.
