KOKOMO, Ind. - Chancellor Mark Canada has often referred to Indiana University Kokomo as "a hidden gem."
During the month of November, it will be hidden no more, in the spotlight on public television stations in a segment on "Viewpoint with Dennis Quaid."
Actor and host Dennis Quaid, star of the Hoosier classic Breaking Away, will introduce and narrate the segment, which will highlight IU Kokomo's outstanding work in experiential education - specifically the impact of the IU Kokomo Experience and You (KEY) in a liberal arts environment.
"This opportunity for national exposure comes at an ideal time for IU Kokomo," said Canada. "Our extraordinary work on the KEY, athletics, student life, and service to our region has made our campus worthy of celebration, and this microdocumentary will draw attention to our destination campus - from prospective students, their parents and grandparents, prospective donors and community partners, and more. It also will build invaluable credibility for our work as a regional campus transforming lives and our region."
Viewers can see "Viewpoint with Dennis Quaid" numerous times throughout the month on Indiana public television stations. The segment includes interviews with Andréa Halpin, dean of students, Tara Kingsley, professor and interim dean of the School of Education, and current student Lea Mummert, who shared her experience as an IUK volleyball player on a pre-med track.
Education is KEY at Indiana University Kokomo.
