North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey has announced Victim Assistance Centers (VACs) will be open in Boone to aid those affected by Hurricane Helene.

The VACs, which provide in-person and on-the-ground recovery assistance and insurance-related support to those directly impacted by Hurricane Helene, will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10, and Friday, Oct. 11, at the Watauga County NCWorks Career Center, located at 130 Poplar Grove Road, Boone, N.C. 28607.

"We will continue to operate VACs in the coming days and weeks to provide valuable resources and support to storm victims," Commissioner Causey said. "NCDOI staff members will be on hand to offer their expertise and assistance to the public."

NCDOI is currently coordinating with law enforcement agencies, emergency management, fire departments, rescue squads, charities, churches and civic groups to assist victims. NCDOI will continue to host future events to assist with insurance claims for those affected.
