Applications Sought for Various Board Openings

Nampa Mayor Debbie Kling is seeking applications to fill upcoming vacancies on various boards or commissions within the City of Nampa. All positions below must be appointed by Mayor Kling and confirmed by the Nampa City Council before beginning their term of service. Unless otherwise noted, appointments would begin serving immediately following confirmation.

Arts and Historic Preservation Commission: There is one opening that would complete an existing term ending March 31, 2028. Applicants should reside within Nampa city limits. The Nampa Arts & Historic Preservation Commission (AHPC) consists of seven commissioners who demonstrate a commitment to preserve and advance the city's unique history and cultural character and to advance the arts in the community. They meet the second Monday of the month from 4-5 p.m. at Nampa City Hall.

Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee: There are three openings (two openings would fill existing positions and would serve through December 31, 2024 or March 31, 2025.) One new position would serve a three-year term beginning January 1, 2025. The Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee is comprised of seven members who make recommendations to the mayor and city council concerning bicycle and pedestrian facility development. They meet the second Thursday of each month at 4 p.m. at Nampa City Hall.

Board of Appraisers: There is one opening that would complete an existing term ending January 15, 2025. Applicants must reside within Nampa city limits. The Board of Appraisers consists of six citizens which recommend rates, charges or fees, and also conduct hearings and hear appeals from services, regulations, and fees charged under 3-1-1, 8-1-3, and 8-2-4 in Nampa City Code. The Board of Appraisers' decisions must be presented to the Nampa City Council for approval. They meet quarterly at the Nampa Development Services Center.

Design Review Committee: There are two openings to fill new terms beginning January 1, 2025. One term would serve through December 31, 2026 and the other term through December 31, 2028. Applicants must have a background and interest in community design such as architects, engineers, planners, designers, developers, builders, businesspersons, and landscape architects. The Design Review Committee reviews projects forwarded by staff, requested by the applicant, greater than 5,000 square feet or complicated in nature. They meet at 12:30 p.m. on the third Monday of each month at Nampa City Hall.

Planning & Zoning Commission: There are two openings which would serve a six-year term beginning January 1, 2025. Many of the duties of the Planning & Zoning Commission are listed in the Idaho Local Land Use Planning Act (LLUPA). By law, the commission plays a major role in all aspects of the local planning process. One of the positions open must be filled by an applicant who has lived within Nampa city limits for at least two years, and preference will be given to applicants who live within city limits for the other open position. The commission consists of nine members who meet on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. at Nampa City Hall.
