A Volunteer Activity on the Occasion of the Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great, National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand and Thailand's Father's Day
On 8 November 2024, the Royal Thai Embassy organised the "Kiji Shrine Clean-up" community service activity on the occasion of the Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great, the National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand and Thailand's Father's Day, 5 December 2024.
H.E. Mr. Witchu Vejjajiva, Ambassador of Thailand to Japan, led 36 volunteers, including the officials and staff of the Royal Thai Embassy and Team Thailand and their spouses, to neaten the areas of the Kiji Shrine by collecting dead leaves, cleaning windows and gutters of the subsidiary shrines, and dusting off the antique Mikoshi (portable shrines) used for the procession to pay homage and gratitude to the Shinto deities believed to give protection to the local community, including the area where the Royal Embassy is located. The activity attracted attention from passers-by, notably the residents in the surrounding areas who expressed their appreciation to the volunteers for giving the Shrine a beautiful appearance ready for the locals to come worship over the New Year festival.
