Fast facts:
COLOMA, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is set to move to the next phase of the $27 million investment to rebuild the US-12/M-51 interchange in Niles, Berrien County.
Starting Monday, July 1, weather permitting, one lane of M-51 will reopen in each direction while crews rebuild the northbound lanes. Work includes sidewalk and ramp upgrades, base replacement, drainage improvements, and paving operations.
Work on US-12 continues, with the next phase to rebuilding the US-12/3rd Street intersection. That work likely will start in August. The exact dates will be shared when they are determined based on construction progress.
Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 383 jobs.
