Blue Cross NC Welcomes Mike Alford to Board of Trustees

DURHAM, N.C. - Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC) announced North Carolina-based Mike Alford as the newest member of its Board of Trustees. The Blue Cross NC board consists of community leaders across North Carolina with varied backgrounds in health care, education, business and finance.

"Mike Alford's business expertise, excellent leadership and dedication to North Carolinians makes him a great addition to our Board of Trustees," said Blue Cross NC Board of Trustees Chair Ned Curran. "He will prove invaluable as we continue our work in making health care better for all."

Alford's career spans more than 30 years in the automobile industry and community leadership. He is the president and owner of Marine Chevrolet Cadillac in Jacksonville, NC, and Trent Cadillac Buick GMC in New Bern, NC.

Alford currently serves as the immediate past chair of the Board of Directors for the National Automobile Dealers Association. In 2013, he was recognized as the TIME National Dealer of the Year, a prestigious award that highlights the nation's most successful auto dealers who also demonstrate a commitment to community service.

He is also a member of the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission. Previously, he served as a member of the North Carolina Board of Transportation. Alford has also served in leadership and advisory roles for many organizations, including Jacksonville Onslow Economic Development, Jacksonville Onslow Chamber of Commerce, JobReady and the United Way. Alford graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts in political science and government.
