Master of Healthcare Administration Earns Reaccreditation

MHA students gather at Seton Hall's Interprofessional Health Sciences (IHS) campus for a three-day residency.

Seton Hall's Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) has been reaccredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME) for a seven-year term, confirming its elite status among MHA programs nationwide. "Seton Hall is thrilled to announce its MHA reaccreditation," said Vikram Dayalu, Ph.D., interim dean of the School of Health and Medical Sciences (SHMS). "With the endorsement of CAHME, we look forward to advancing our mission to educate and inspire a new generation of healthcare administrators and innovators."

MHA students in Seton Hall's on-campus cohort attend classes in the evenings, providing flexibility for busy professionals pursuing their degree.

Seton Hall's MHA is the only CAHME accredited program of its kind in New Jersey, offering two distinct formats: online-hybrid and on-campus. The 42-credit program, the oldest in the state, is ranked among the top 50 MHA programs nationwide according to U.S. News and World Report. Students enrolled in the online-hybrid format complete their coursework online, with three intensive residencies to complete their degree. "This flexible format attracts a blend of students and professionals from diverse backgrounds and locations," added Dayalu. One recent graduate completed his degree while enrolled fulltime in the U.S. Navy and stationed in Guam, he noted.

"Seton Hall continues to set the standard for excellence in healthcare education, preparing students for leadership and management positions in today's complex and dynamic healthcare sector," said Program Director Nalin Johri, Ph.D. "The recent CAHME reaccreditation reinforces our national reputation as one of the premier MHA programs in the country."

The IHS campus in Nutley, NJ is home to Seton Hall's MHA program.

CAHME is the only organization recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation to grant accreditation to graduate programs in healthcare management. There are 150 CAHME accredited programs in the U.S. and Canada according to its website. Anthony Stanowski, DHA, FACHE, president and CEO of CAHME, said, "CAHME's mission is to advance the quality of healthcare management education globally. CAHME accredited programs have successfully navigated a thorough accreditation process managed by experts in the study and practice of healthcare management. The program meets standards set by leading academics and practitioners."
