Immediate Burn Ban Issued for Greeley, Colorado

The Greeley Fire Department has issued a burn ban on outdoor fires until further notice.

GREELEY, Colo. - Based on the current hot, dry weather conditions being experienced in the area, which are conducive to fires growing quickly and erratically, the Greeley Fire Department has enacted a burn ban for all outside fires, including recreational fires, within city limits and the Western Hills Fire Protection District. The ban will remain in effect until weather conditions improve to decrease the threat of extreme fire behavior.

The burn ban includes charcoal grills and other solid fuel devices, as well as fireworks and smokers. Grills or devices fueled by natural gas or propane, which can easily be shut down in the event of an emergency, are still allowed. Additionally, no burn permits will be issued until further notice.

Individuals caught burning outdoor fires may be cited for violating the burn ban. Burn bans are put in place to protect property and our environment, conserve critical firefighting resources, and ensure the public safety of our community. Residents who come across signs of fire, including active flames or a smoke plume, are encouraged to dial 9-1-1.
