The Fargo Public Library has several events happening over the next two weeks:

The Senior Book Club will meet tomorrow, August 20, at 1 p.m. at the Carlson Library to discuss James McBride's book "The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store."

The library will take part in P-B-S Kids' Be My Neighbor Day on Thursday, August 22, in Civic Center Plaza. This is a free outdoor event for young children and families.

Author Eric D. Larson will visit the Main Library on Thursday, August 22, to discuss his book "Grounding Global Justice: Race, Class, and Grassroots Globalism in the United States and Mexico." Larson is a professor at the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth. He's also a proud graduate of Fargo North High School.

The library will have a booth at the NDSU Welcome Week Block Party on Thursday, August 29, at NDSU. Librarians will be on hand to open library accounts.

The Library will host Food Preservation Bingo to help residents learn the best and safest ways to preserve the bounty from their gardens. This event is set for Friday, August 23, at 11 a.m. at the downtown Main Library. Prizes will be given out.

Beginner Yoga sessions for adults are set for Thursday evenings at 6 p.m. through the summer at Carlson Library.

The Library's Design-a-Bookmark Contest opens on September 1. All ages can submit entries. Contest forms will be available at all library locations. The top designs will be made into bookmarks.

At the end of July, First Responders from across our region worked together to hold the Annual ASHER Training at the FARGODOME. This collaborative training allows our area First Responders to: be prepared for any large-scale emergencies in our community, know how to communicate across agencies and work quickly and effectively together while on scene.
